Annaliese Braucht

Ballet & Contemporary Instructor

Annaliese has had a passion for music and dancing her entire life. She began dancing ballet and tap in Madison, Wisconsin at the age of 2. When she was 4 years old, her family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she continued dancing competitively, and learned ballet, tap, hip-hop, jazz, Broadway jazz, and lyrical. At 12, her family moved to Beaver Creek, Minnesota where she began seriously studying ballet in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She continued various dance styles but focused on ballet, completing Cecchetti grades I-VII. In 2017, Annaliese attended the Cecchetti Council of America’s International Summer Intensive on a full scholarship.

Annaliese set her sights on professional ballet and the following year, trained at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Professional Division school in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and Kansas City Ballet. Throughout her training, she continued her formal education. Also, she remained heavily involved as a teacher and dancer at the Dance Gallery of South Dakota– performing various lead roles in classical ballets such as Sleeping Beauty and Coppelia and choreographing new works. In 2020, Annaliese performed multiple shows–rediscovering her love for theater–with her high school’s theater while recovering from an injury. After graduating high school in 2021, Annaliese moved to Rapid City to attend the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in biomedical engineering and nanoscience. She returned to dance after a year-long break, and is so excited to be back!

Annaliese is the captain of the SDSMT dance team and is heavily involved in the music department when she is not studying or working in the research lab. Annaliese is thrilled to teach dance again and cannot wait to share her skill with our Academy of Dance Arts students!
